kids room tour j's edition

J's room is really in progress. He inherited my grandparents furniture that is well over 70 years old. It has never been re-finished and boy does it need it. So we are slowly starting the process. The bed is done and we still need to do the desk, dresser and book shelf. I hope its done before he's 15 because the ikea dresser won't last much longer.

Every room in our home is an evolving work in progress. We are currently experimenting with her bed netting on almost every object in her room (other than the bed).

Her furniture is actually all passed down from my side of the family and has already raised 2 children with hardly a scratch along the way.

the list

Along with the resolutions that new years makes.. I'm going to try my hand at the list. It seems so many of us bloggers are organized types that not only make lists, they actually cross things off those lists. Blogs of note include the ever wonderful Wendolonia and Heartful Mouthful to name a few. So here is the List. I know it will evolve over time and perhaps I'll add somethings along the way.. but its kind of like a bucket list. It lives and grows until we stop.

take a photography class
learn to mass cook and freeze a weeks worth of meals (or more)
start using my cook books and cook something new for the family at least once a month
clean less, play more
run
snow shoe
skate on the canal
get a massage
get frugal with my grocery list
go on more dates with my husband
get a bbq
throw a surprise party
grow a vegetable and herb garden
make paper mache with the kids
take a sewing class
make a grannie square something
pick up yoga or spinning again
clean up the office
paint my room
finally hang the framed picture collage that I've been working on for 6 years

I want to run

Not sure why the changing of the year seems to be so momentous. If I decide to diet or change my lifestyle, you'd think it would be a moment at some random time of the year. But here I go. Making a new years resolution.

I'm going to eat better. I'm going to loose weight. (No predetermined amount) I'm going to be a healthier me.

I want to run.

It is January, and there is ice under that snow. So I haven't figured it all out yet. But I wanna.

One thing that I have already found helpful is myfitnesspal. Its a free calorie counting diet and exercise online community. Its helping me be accountable. And I think its starting to work.

I am finding lots of motivation. Blogs like Ex Hot Girl and having friends and family who are also on the same path really help. Yay healthy people. All together I think this is going to be a good year for our family diet. I think it will be a good year for our family exercise. So many more activities are open to us now that we are all over the age of three.

camera and me

Now that I have the new camera I've got to coordinate! I've been looking at camera straps on Etsy for quite some time and think I will need one of these straps from here.

Plus it would be ideal to have a Jotote from here.

mix master me

Well I guess it was my year. Not only did I get my camera, but I got my mixer too. So I made these:
Others got things like these:
And husbands got playstation games and a week off to play them. It was a great Christmas for all. And I only gained two pounds.. far better than last year, and with a mixer no less.

Happy New Years to you. I wish you health and happiness in 2011. xoxo

i'm a rebel

Well it isn't the Nikon I was dreaming about but then again, I never expected a DSLR either. So I'm over the moon about my Christmas present the Canon Rebel T2i. Not only is she lovely, she can wear all the lady parts from my old SLR since they are both from the same family. Yay!
I haven't had a chance to shoot anything fun but here's our 9 yr old tabby.

super quick centre piece

The craft stores are full of cardboard forms for Christmas so I picked up 3 last time I was in. Today I decided they would be the perfect center piece for our kitchen table. So I pulled out some old yarn I am sick of and my glue gun and 20 minutes later. 3 trees are sitting on my table. How easy is that!
